Building Resources for Behavioral Health Care
The Hospital Foundation actively raises funds to support behavioral health services, including addiction medicine, adult behavioral health, and child and adolescent care. Resources in Alaska, particularly in Fairbanks, are limited, and many patients find themselves in the Hospital Emergency Department with only a few inpatient beds available. This shortage is especially critical for adolescents, who are often sent out of Fairbanks or even outside for treatment if space can be found.
GFCHF firmly believes that healing happens best at home, surrounded by family and a strong support system.
2024 Pediatric Behavioral Health Expansion Project
In 2024, we launched a fundraising campaign to expand our Behavioral Health department. This expansion will increase the number of adult beds and create a dedicated inpatient area for adolescents. By donating to Behavioral Health Services, you can help fund this build-out, ensuring children, teens, and adults have access to much-needed services, including psychiatric assessments, stabilization, therapy, and treatment for substance use disorders.
