With All Your Heart

Interview with Kaare Odegard Part 1

Interview with Kaare Odegard Part 2

In 2011, Kaare Odegard (UAF Defenseman) and Shawn Head (UAF Volunteer Nanook Hockey Team Office Manager) came to the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation with an idea, a vision, a passion—to honor their father’s by creating a campaign to raise money and awareness for the Harry & Sally Porter Heart Center.  The With All Your Heart campaign was born.

During the first year, With All Your Heart surpassed every goal set for the campaign.  Almost $95,000 was contributed based on team achievements, individual donations and a silent auction.  As importantly, Fairbanksans have been anxious to share their stories about how lives are being saved and patients are being treated, right here at home, in Fairbanks.

2012-2013 marks Kaare’s senior year as a Nanook.  He will be leaving the Nanook Hockey Team and the Fairbanks community but he will continue to work with Shawn and the With All Your Heart campaign.  His ongoing commitment to this campaign is unchanged.  Kaare’s   father, Scott, might even make an appearance in Fairbanks, now that he is well enough to travel.

The campaign progress to date has been phenomenal—but there is still much left to do.  There are several ways you can support With All Your Heart:

PLEDGE your support by making tax-deductible donations based on the overall achievements of the Alaska Nanook Hockey team’s performance in 2012-2013.

VOLUNTEER to contact potential donors for With All Your Heart.

DONATE directly to the Harry and Sally Porter Heart Center.

This year, please consider a contribution to the campaign to recognize and thank Kaare for his commitment to the Fairbanks community.  For more information or to make a donation, please stop by the table at all of the home Nanook hockey games or visit www.FairbanksHospitalFoundation.com
